Asset Performance Management
GL-507 · also APM, Asset Performance
The practice and software of using condition data, failure history and risk to keep physical assets available at the lowest total cost: predicting failures, choosing maintenance strategies and deciding when to repair or replace.
An industry and vendor term rather than a standard one; asset management standards such as ISO 55000 frame the wider discipline. Sold both as a module of asset management suites and as standalone analytics. Not to be confused with application performance monitoring or application portfolio management, which share the acronym.
