API
GL-230 · also Application Programming Interface, Web API
An application programming interface: a published contract that lets one piece of software request data or actions from another without knowing how the other is built.
An API is a product with consumers, so it needs versioning, documentation and a deprecation policy. A description language such as OpenAPI makes the contract explicit.
