Transition Architecture

An intermediate state between the current and target architectures that delivers value on its own and is stable enough to operate, so a long change can be planned as a series of safe steps.
A roadmap without transition states tends to assume the target arrives in one move. Each transition should be a state the business could stop at if funding ran out.
